Residential Parking

– School assignment on sustainability.

A typical parking space is about 15 square meters. In Stockholm, there are over 100 000 parking spaces. We ask ourselves whether it is fair that we let the car take up so much room? How many cars in the inner city could be replaced by using public transports, cycling or walking?

If traffic in the inner city declined it would open up large areas. Can that space be used for something better? Growing crops, build kindergartens or perhaps apartments. A typical apartment in a student corridor is approximately 17 square meters. What is more important to us? The cars that is the cause of many of todays enviormental problems? Or the youth who will work to solve these issues?
